WordPress Blog-How To Start Yours In 5 Easy Steps

How to Start a WordPress Blog in 5 Easy Steps

So you want to start a WordPress Blog?

I’m happy to help you start the process. My goal is to walk you step by step through the process so that you can start a WordPress blog right now.

First

Decide what you are going to blog about. Blogs range anywhere from personal thoughts to product specific. So take some time and think about what message you want to convey or what you want to rant about.

When you are ready to start a WordPress blog, feel confident that it can be anything you want it to be. If you need some blog inspiration, visit Bloglovin’ for some great blog ideas.

There are many reasons why you might want to start a blog, here are some of the most popular reasons:

You love to write: Many people love to write. Writing is fun! With a blog, you can collect all your thoughts in one area and arrange them by category. Blogs are also super fun to make your written word more exciting with color and pictures.

To Boost Business: Maybe you own your own business and want more exposure. Blogging is a great way to advertise your products and showcase your business.

To Make Money: While you can make money from blogging, I caution you that it does not happen overnight. Blogging could be the first step you take in making a living from home though because it is relatively inexpensive to get started. Incidentally, blogging for money can be quite profitable in the long run.

You Want To Help Others: Many bloggers write for a cause. They have a message that they want to convey to others, and blogging is a great way to reach people who are searching for information.

Second

  • Choose your host. You must have a domain name and a host service so that people can find your blog. A host provides space on the server for your website. Or in layman’s  terms, it is a storage space where all your documents, images, and files are kept so that other computers can access the information.

Disclosure: Because I use their services, the links below will pay me a small commission if you sign up with them using my links.

  • GoDaddy® WordPress Hosting is available in the following packages: Basic, Deluxe, Ultimate, or Developer.

  • You can choose which package works best for you by comparing the offers on their website. If you are just starting out with your blog, the Basic package is all you really need to get started and costs the least amount of money.

  • When you are ready to start a WordPress blog, click on the Configure Button which will take you to your subtotal screen.

  • The total that shows is a 36-month subscription rate, BUT DON’T WORRY, you can change that.

  • Click Continue.

  • Click Continue again and you will be taken to your shopping cart. Here, you can change the Terms of the Basic Managed WordPress Websites Package.  The monthly price does increase the fewer months that you sign up for, but if you can only afford one month at a time, it is a good option. On the other hand, if you wanted the free domain name, that is not offered with the month to month rate.

  • Domain registrations are only $11.99 plus tax, though, so if you are starting your blog on a serious budget like I was, this is affordable.*

Again, you can start your own Hosted Managed WordPress Website with GoDaddy® for only $19.98 plus tax* including your Registered Domain Name. Your Domain Name is good for a year, and hosting is good for one month. If you want to pay monthly, it is $7.99/month* plus tax with my GoDaddy® link.

Third

Set up your account. Before you can start using the Managed WordPress Website, you need to set up your account. This only takes a few minutes.

  • Log in to your GoDaddy® Account.

  • Next to Managed WordPress Websites, click Manage.

  • Click the image that matches what you see in your account.

  • Click Set Up on the account you want to use.

  • Choose to either Create a new WordPress site or Migrate an existing WordPress site.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions for the option you choose.

  • During the setup process, you will have a choice to use the WordPress Setup Wizard. If you want to use WordPress Page Builder, you need to click Start Wizard at that step.

Fourth

Install WordPress using the Setup Wizard. This tool will walk you through exactly how to install WordPress on your computer. It is a good idea to have a notepad handy to jot down where it is being installed and any login and password information you will need in the future.

Fifth
