First Decide What You Will Call Your Blog

Choosing the right name for your blog or website is crucial to your success. First, choose a name that represents what you want to portray to the world. Keep in mind, the name that you choose should be search friendly. You don’t want to choose a name that is difficult to spell or has a lot of punctuation or is too long to remember. So take your time and really think of how you are going to market your site and where you are going  to tell people to find you online.

The extension of your website is just as important. The most common extension, of course, is .com. But there are so many other extensions that you could use. Be careful if you decide to choose one of the less known extensions, though. Again, the most common extension is .com and this is the one that most Americans default to when they are trying to remember an address on the web. You can conduct a search of the address you want to purchase on a Domain Name Search to see if the address is available. If it is already taken, you will receive a list of alternate choices that may work for you instead.  You can search as many different names as you like at no charge.

Next Register Your Domain

After you have chosen your name, you must get it registered as quickly as you can so that no one else can snag up your cool idea. According to a report by TechCrunch, there are more than 250 million domain names already registered and over half of them are .coms and .nets. So as soon as you decide which name is right for you, act on it.
